Following hot on the heels from the introduction of the refreshed for the 2011MY Mondeo, Ford's European arm is now broadening the appeal of its Kuga SUV with the presentation of two new diesel engines coupled with a new 'Individual' trim.
The automaker's compact SUV model gains a new 2.0-liter turbo diesel Duratorq TDCi engine that's available in two states of tune, a 140HP version that replaces the 136HP variant and a new 163-horsepower edition. All-wheel drive models can be specified with Ford's PowerShift six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.
According to Ford, the two-wheel-drive Kuga fitted with the140PS 2.0-litre Duratorq TDCi engine achieves a CO2 output of 156g/km, while the 140PS and 163PS all-wheel-drive models with manual transmission deliver 159g/km, a six per cent reduction compared with the previous 136HP engine.
With the 163HP diesel, the Kuga accelerates from zero to 100km/h (62mph) in 9.6 seconds and goes on to reach a top speed of 195km/h (121mph) while returning a combined fuel economy of 47.1mpg UK, equal to 39.2mpg US and 6.0lt/100km.
Ford is also adding a new Individual trim level to the Kuga range, which includes a unique front grille, body colored sideskirts and wheel arches, 19-inch alloys, roof rails, privacy glass, ebony leather, scuff plates, gloss black trim, aluminum pedals and floor mats with 'individual' logo.
